Thank you for choosing Steintal Hof!
We are excited that you chose us for your next herd addition! We try our very best to place kids in homes that are suitable for them and are what their new herd is looking for. Please be forthcoming in your expectations of potential additions to your herd.

Steintal Hof Kids:
We enjoy hearing how our animals are doing in your herd and appreciate receiving periodic updates. Please do not hesitate to reach out and let us know how things are going.

Reserving your Steintal Hof Kid:
We do not have options for reservations prior to birth. Please contact us and let us know your interest in specific breedings. We decide between 3 days old and 3 months old which kids will be available for purchase. We reach out to individuals who have expressed interest in specific breedings first.

Kids are priced after birth. Pet quality doelings will not be sold with papers and all wethers will not leave the farm until they are wethered. Bucklings will be wethered by 2 weeks old.

Price Ranges (for kids picked up between 2-3 weeks old):

  • Pet Quality Wethers and Doelings: $150-$200
  • Show Quality Doelings: $400-$600
  • Breeding Quality Bucklings: $400-$600

When buying a kid that is already born, the total price is due in full at the time of purchase. We consider the time of purchase the scheduled pickup time and date. We do not accept payment prior to pickup. We would much rather have to re-advertise a kid then for a kid to go to a new home who’s circumstances may have changed and are now no longer prepared to care for a herd. We do expect you to correspond at least once a week until pickup as we send updates about kids and will not send a kid to a new home until we think they are prepared to transition.

If possible, we encourage you to pick up your kid at our farm so that you can visit the herd and meet related animals. We understand that purchasing a kid, especially sight unseen, is an expensive investment. We want you to be happy with your Steintal Hof kids and do our best to be as transparent as possible with our expectations of each individual kid.

Payment Methods:

  • Cash
  • Paypal transfers (including PayPal fees) should be sent to: [email protected]
  • Venmo transfers should be sent to: @steintalhof
  • Checks or money orders should be made out to Liza Mummert

Bringing home your Steintal Hof Kid:
We will provide the registration certificates and/or transfers to ADGA members upon pick up of your kid. Our prices do not include the price of registration and transfer. You are responsible for checking out via your ADGA account online. For new ADGA members we highly recommend signing up for an ADGA membership prior to purchasing your first kids. We will provide paper applications to those who are not yet members but we’re also happy to help you walk through obtaining membership.

Kids are also sent home with a small amount of transition hay/grain/milk depending upon the age the kid is leaving the farm.

Bottle Kids:
In most cases we prefer to sell kids as bottle kids. Bottle kids will typically be sold at approximately 2-3 weeks old. Kids are well-started on a Ritchard Pritchard teat adapter and/or a lambar. We prefer that bottle kids only go to experienced homes however we will consider homes with a history of working in vet med, etc. We have the right to refuse sale to any individual. If you are planning to start a kid on a milk replacer we will start the transition prior to departure from the farm. We want kids to be well adjusted and thriving before we transfer their care to you.

Uncomfortable with Bottle Kids?:
In the event that you wish to purchase a kid but are uncomfortable with bottle feeding we can keep the kid until weaning. Kids who stay at the farm until weaning are approximately 8-10 weeks at the time of departure. Kids who stay until weaning will have a boarding fee of $50 in addition to their purchase price. 4H members or FFA members starting their first herd can have the $50 boarding fee waived with a once a week visit to participate in herd management chores not to last more than 30 minutes. Management chores may include help feeding, watering, watching/learning about hoof trimmings, feeding bottle kids, etc.

We will not sell any goat to a single goat home.
